DT Post: December Daily Mini Album Featuring October Afternoon Make it Merry

Hi, DeAnna here to show you the remainder of my December Daily mini album. Last time I shared the numbers I created/altered for each day and today I have the actual album. Having base pages already made will help me to keep up with the project a little better than I did last year. I didn't complete last year's book until August of THIS year! LOL I usually print photos weekly and have time to sit down at the craft table Saturday or Sunday afternoon to catch up on the previous week. Since the base pages are already made and I have pulled all my embellishments already, it won't take me any time at all to get these memories recorded.

Check out the video below for a flip-thru of the album and this post for more information!

OCTOBER AFTERNOON

I was so excited to use October Afternoon's Sasparilla paper to create a truly rustic western paper bag album. The stickers and paper in the collection really make the creative process so much fun!
Sasparilla can be used in multiple ways from very masculine to feminine, from "grown-up" to childish, the possibility are truly endless!
As always used  Graphic 45 magnets in the mini album and the only adhesive I used on the mini is SCORE TAPE! Score tape is absolutely my "go-to" adhesive!
I hope you enjoy all of my creations!
Enjoy my video on my October Afternoon Sasparilla Paper bag mini album!

Birthday Party in a Box Design Team Project

How to Throw a Birthday Party in Less Than 1 Hour
A Design Team Project for Country Craft Creations

If you are anything like me, I always get the last minute requests for gifts, decorations, or "ideas". And by ideas I mean, " Hey Lish, I was wanting to make something special for someone. Do you have any ideas?" I usually share a fee ideas and then I usually hear, "Oh that sounds great, can you just make one real quick?". It's a good thing I have a good sense of humor because surely they are joking...right?? (WRONG)

This is a great project almost anyone can make in about an hour.

I received a GORGEOUS Graphic 45 prefabricated box this month in my Design Team haul for Country Craft Creations.

I secured a ribbon to the top of the box to create a soft closure. I then added some birthday paper (It's Your Day by Michelle Coleman) I had on hand, and covered the outside as well as the inside. I used my Scortape to adhere the paper so it was quick and no waiting time for it dry.

I ran up to the grocery store and bought a candle, a cupcake, small wine bottle, and a bar of chocolate. I had the confetti, balloon, and horn already at home.

I used several of the scraps I had from cutting the paper to decorate the box to create custom labels for the items that went inside the box. I also used a scalloped punch and Happy Birthday stamp to really embellish the items.

Once everything was finished I arranged it in the box and set out to give to the Birthday Girl :)
XOXO,
Lish

Warm & Cozy Taxidermy Banner

Taxidermy Banner
I am absolutely in love with Carta Bella's Warm & Cozy paper! (In case you haven't heard me say it a million times already lol).

As soon as I started looking at the paper I immediately saw my dads taxidermy deer in my minds eye. The deer has become a main fixture in our family. We decorate him for every occasion! (The Halloween Elvis costume so far is my favorite). I started searching Instructables.com to see if there was any realistic way to make something like that out of paper. Thankfully someone else also had this idea and shared her pattern. (www.theoutdoorsmanswife.com/2013/01/how-i-made-cardboard-taxidermy.html).

I had to hand cut the deer as my new silhouette still isn't cutting without tearing everything. But at least it's out of the box right?? Lol Once I cut the pieces, I used the body as a base to create the moose. I freehand drew the majority of it and created my pattern. I did the same for the bear.
Once I had everything cut l, began distressing with my favorite Tim Holtz Distress InkWalnut Stain. I used a quick dry glue (Beacon 3 in 1) to make sure the pieces stayed together.
While those pieces were drying I cut out the mounting piece from a small stack of DCWV Corrugated paper. I distressed those edges as well.

In planning the storage of this project I wanted to make sure the animals would not get damaged. I used my Basic Grey magnets on the back of the mounting piece so that each animal could be removed and stored in its own box. (This paper is so adorable I will most likely make each animal its own box lol). You can also rearrange the order they are hung or interchange them with any new animals you decide to make.

I cut the banner pieces out of heavy weight chipboard and covered them with more of the Warm & Cozy paper. To make the small swag pieces that hang between the animals I used kraft colored straws, some of the Warm & Cozy sticker embellishments, and some Bazzill card stock. I found that Pomegranate, Storm, and Ivy matched this collection well.

To finish the project and really make the project pop, I used some Christmas garland I found at my local Hobby Lobby. I used some 7 Gypsies twine from my stash to string it all together and complete the final look.

December Daily Part 1 using Make it Merry by October Afternoon

Over the last several years of doing a December Daily I have come to the conclusion that I get the project completed in a timely manner IF I have my base pages already made before the holidays roll around. The first two years I had received a mini album and a "junk journal" already made for me. All I had to do was add my pictures. Those albums were completed by the end of January. My December Daily for 2013 was just finished in August of 2014....just a little bit late! My hopes this year are to have my base pages completed by the end of November and since this is my DT project for this month, I stand a pretty good chance! LOL I also decided to make it easier on myself by limiting my supplies. I used only this paper collection and kraft cardstock. I chose one color of ink (TH Distress Ink, Vintage Photo) and I have already pulled my embellishments from my stash and collected them all in a bag. I'm going to store everything together so that when it's time to work on this, I can just "grab and go" and hopefully get all the pictures and journaling in the book by the end of January.

I started my project by using the "Make a Countdown" paper. I cut the numbers apart and embellished each one for a page in my December Daily.

Check out the video below for a peek into my DT box for November and my finished number tags. Feel free to check out this blog post for more information regarding this project!

SHADOW BOX USING OCTOBER AFTERNOON PUBLIC LIBRARY COLLECTION

Supplies

8x8 Canvas
October Afternoon Public Library Collection
ScorTape
Tim Holtz Walnut Stain
Paper Flower (my stash)
Tiny Roses (my stash)
Glossy Accents
Stickles
Picture of Granddaughter

My project I created was a 'Reverse Canvas Shadowbox' using the October Afternoon Public Library Collection. This paper is a nice heavy weight allowing it to stand up to just about any task. This collection came with some sticker sheets of the same heavy weight papers which made it easy to use them as stand alone embellishments or matting them to make them even more substantial. I wanted to use this collection to make a shadowbox for my granddaughter since she is an avid reader, and this paper line is definitely geared to books, hence the name. I took her picture the other day while she was reading her cat book and printed it out, then fussy cut her and her book to use in the shadowbox. I love how it turned out and know she will be excited to get it as she also is a 7 year old scrapper making mini albums herself. This shadowbox can be hung on the wall or displayed on an easel. I included a removable little booklet that can be used to journal and tucks nicely inside the box. I love including a little booklet or waterfall somewhere in or on my projects. I hope you enjoy it and if you have any questions, feel free to drop by my blog at: Crosseyedcricketcreations.blogspot.com and leave me a note.

Wicked Times Tombstone Design Project by Alisha Martin

Hey Everyone!
My latest DT project for Country Craft Creations was another fun Halloween inspired piece. This playful tombstone has a few fun aspects hidden inside and outside.

I started out by making 2 different boxes. One for the base and one that would sit on top. Using regular 12x12 black card stock, I measured, scored and cut out the unnecessary areas of the paper to assemble my boxes.

Next, I traced half of the top of a plastic lid to get the round curve I needed for the top piece of the tombstone. I made two of these and attached them together with one strip of card stock. Then, I cut a hole in the base piece and added the 3 pieces of twine.

Once the twine was secured, I secured the boxes together with Scortape. Prior to adding any paper to the piece I carefully planned and secured all of the magnets I would use in this project I used 10 total Basic Grey small and large magnets. I wanted to ensure they were hidden but still effective. I also laid out the items I would glue to the twine.

Now that I had all the main items in place, I started attaching and embellishing. I used a lot of the awesome cut apart pieces that were in this paper collection. I was able to use them throughout the project without having to purchase a bunch of additional pieces.

I hope you enjoyed the additional information on this project. I really love the versatility of this paper. Make sure to swing by Country Craft Creations for some great deals on this paper collection as well as magnets and Scortape. www.facebook.com/tammyscountrycraftcreations

Congrats again to Monica Baker for winning this project!!!! More giveaways coming soon!

Lish
